Hastings, ON

Hastings, ON
Hastings Village Marina
July 3, 2012

We were going to Hastings on Tuesday and the first lock was less than a mile away so we could not leave until about 8:15.  We had heard about the Dooher's bakery in Campbellford but it was closed all weekend so Ginny and Beth walked over around 7:15 to get some goodies.  They brought back some good stuff that we ate before we left.  The weather was good and the wind was light.  We got to the first lock a little early but the dock master was very nice and let us in the lock early (we gave him some butter tarts for his help in getting a head start on the day).  After the first lock we had 6 more to go before we arrived in Hastings.  The ride was nice but there are too many darn No Wake zones for me.  I know I drive Ginny crazy about going so slow and the big water is only a couple of weeks away so I will try to be a good boy.  We got into the marina about 1:30 and got a pump out at the dock.  Ginny and I went to Banjo's, a local great place for burgers, for lunch and then walked around town for little.  We found The Beer Store and I bought a 30 pack of Canadian beer for $40 (ouch).  After cocktails we walked into town for dinner at the Captain's Table which is really a fish and chips place but they had other things also.  Ginny's Halibut was good, the fries were awesome (double cooked) and my burger was perfect.  All in all a good day but we are off tomorrow for Peterborough.
